Seton Hill opened their spring trip with a matchup with the Lions of St Leo University on Saturday evening. After St Leo took a 9-8 lead midway thru the second half, SHU scored the final seven goals of the contest for a 15-9 win. SHU improves 2-2 on the season while the Lions drop to 3-3.
Nellie Phillips scored the first two goals for the Griffins and the game was tied at two with 25 minutes to play in the contest.
Nicole Nath gave the Griffins a 3-2 lead with a goal at the 18:44 mark. St Leo answered with four straight goals to take a 6-3 lead with 11 minutes left in the half. SHU then scored the final five goals of the half to take an 8-6 halftime lead.
Katelyn Cressman scored the first two goals.
Charlotte Cunningham then scored twice and
Tristen Hanke closed out the scoring with a goal with 1.5 seconds to play.
St Leo scored the first three goals of the second half to retake a 9-8 lead midway thru the second half. From that point on it was all Griffins as they scored the final seven goals for the go away win.
Christine Palmeri scored the first two goals to give the Griffins the lead back.
Savannah Monroe followed to extend the lead to 11-9 with 11:20 to play. Palmeri, Cressman,
Ashley Ingram and Phillips closed out the scoring for the Griffins.
Cressman, Palmeri and Phillips led the Griffins with 3 goals. Cunningham added two goals.
Hailey Jacobs made three saves in relief and did not allow a goal in earning the win.
SHU will travel to Rollins College on Tuesday evening.
