Six Run Eighth Inning Carries Griffins to Win

Seton Hill hosted Alderson Broaddus in a non conference 9 inning contest on Wednesday afternoon.  The Griffins broke out the bats in the eighth with 6 runs in route to an 8-6 win.  SHU improves to 14-7 on the season.

The Battlers jumped on the Griffins for three runs in the top of the first inning.  They used a single, homer and double to score three times.  The Griffins got one of those runs back in the bottom of the inning thanks to two Alderson Broaddus errors.

SHU loaded the bases with one out in the third but two fly outs ended the threat.  The Griffins got a run back in the sixth inning.  Jarrett Peters reached on a bunt single and scored later when Craig Lewis reached on an error.

Alderson Broaddus scored two insurance runs in the eighth to push their lead to 6-2.

The Griffins finally broke thru in the eighth inning.  Tom McCarthy led off with a single and scored on a Carl Turner single.  Bayley Jamanis and Ryan Grieco walked to load the bases.  Lewis then walked to force in a run.  Tyler Sullivan followed with a two RBI double to tie the game at six.  Both Lewis and Sullivan scored on wild pitches to put the Griffins in front 8-6.

Kenny Wells earned the win with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.  Tom McCarthy led the offense with two hits.

The Griffins return to action this weekend with a series with Mercyhurst.  SHU travels to Erie on Saturday and host the Lakers on Sunday
