Griffins Split with Alderson Broaddus

Seton Hill took a break from warmed up for PSAC play with a non conference matchup with Alderson Broaddus on Tuesday afternoon.  Seton Hill scored 15 runs in the final two at bats for a 16-4 five inning win in game one. SHU managed just two hits in a 6-0 game two loss.  SHU falls to 7-12 overall on the season.

The Battlers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.  SHU got one of those runs back in the bottom of the second.  Victoria Stock led off with a double to the gap.  Danelle Locke and Paige Hertzog drew walks to load the bases.  Stock scored when Ashley Boehm reached on a fielders choice to cut the lead to 2-1.

Two walks and a strikeout, wild pitch led helped the Griffins into the lead in the third inning.  With the bases loaded Locke doubled off the wall in center field to score two and give the Griffins a 3-2 lead.  Stock then scored on a wild pitch and Ashley Perillo drove in a run to push the lead to 5-2.  Abbie Thrower followed with a two RBI double to increase the lead to 7-2.

Alderson Broaddus cut the Griffins lead to 8-4 with a two spot in the top of the fourth inning.  Hannah LaGrou cleared the bases with a double to the gap in the fourth, extending the Griffins lead to 11-4.  SHU added five more runs to push their lead to 16-4.

Amanda Huff earned the win in her first outing back.  Perillo and Stock each added two hits in the win.

Game two was not like game one as the teams did not score for the first three innings.  Alderson Broaddus finally got on the scoreboard in the fourth with two runs.  The Battlers added four more runs in the top of the fifth to extend their lead to 6-0.

The Griffins are scheduled to host Edinboro on Friday afternoon to open PSAC West play.
