Seton Hill hosted Malone in a non conference 9 inning contest on Tuesday afternoon in Greensburg. SHU scored eight runs over a three inning stretch in route to a 9-4 win. SHU improves to 11-5 on the season.
Malone scored a single run in the top of the first inning and added two runs on a two run bomb in the top of the third inning. SHU got one run back in the bottom of the third inning.
Ryan Wardropper and
Austin Braendel doubled back to back to score the Griffins first run.
SHU picked up an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Griffins took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Mark Colella drew a leadoff walk. He scored on a double to the gap from
MP Buckley. Buckley then scored on a double from
Tyler Sullivan that gave the Griffins a 4-3 lead. Sullivan scored on a perfectly executed squeeze play from
Ryan Wardropper to increase the lead to 5-3.
SHU increased their lead to 9-4 in the seventh.
Tom McCarthy hit a two run homer and the Griffins added two unearned runs to increase their lead to 9-4.
Adam Ferita led the Griffins with 2 hits.
Tom McCarthy drove in two.
SHU will return to action on Friday when they meet Gannon to start a four game PSAC West series.
