Seton Hill returned to action from a day off with a pair of contests at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale, FL. SHU rallied from down 3-1 for a walk off 4-3 win over Ohio Dominican in the first game of the day. SHU led throughout the contest and completed the sweep of the day with a 7-3 win over Wayne State. SHU improves to 9-5 on the season.
Ohio Dominican took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning with a one out two run shot to left center field. The Griffins got one of those runs back in the bottom of the third inning.
Tyler Sullivan led off with a single and moved to third on a base hit from
Bayley Jamanis. Sullivan scored on a RBI groundout from
Craig Lewis. ODU got that run right back in the top of the fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead.
The Griffins got a run in the seventh without a hit.
Adam Ferita and
Austin Braendel drew walks after an out. They moved up on a passed ball and Ferita scored on a sac fly by Sullivan.
SHU then walked off the Panthers in the ninth. After an out Ferita singled. He went to second when
Evan Myers walked.
Andrew Chuba and
Aaron Previsky pinch ran. Sullivan singled thru the middle to tie the score at three. Jamanis was walked to load the bases. After the second out,
Carl Turner was hit by a 2-0 pitch for a walk off HBP.
Bryce Spak earned the win with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.
Lewis, Ferita and Sullivan each had two hits in the win.
SHU scored four times in the top of the third inning against Wayne State. Jamanis and Lewis singled to start the inning.
Garret Vrbanic was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Tom McCarthy singled to drive in two and
Mark Colella followed with a two RBI double to the gap. Wayne State got one run back in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Griffins scored an unearned run in the top of the fifth. Vrbanic was hit by a pitch and scored on a sac fly from Ferita. The Warriors got that run right back in the bottom of the inning on a one out homer. Seton Hill picked up two more runs in the top of the eighth. After one out, Sullivan and Buckley singled. Jamanis singled in Buckley and Sullivan scored on a squeeze play by
Jarrett Peters.
Sullivan led the Griffins with 3 hits. Colella, Buckley, Jamanis and Peters 2 hits each.
SHU will wrap up the Florida trip with a single 9 inning contest against Mansfield on Friday.
