The Griffin softball team opened their spring trip with a pair of games on Sunday in Clermont, FL. SHU defeated Concord 4-1 in the opening game and then dropped a 5-2 decision to Ohio Dominican in the nightcap. SHU is now 1-5 on the season.
SHU got on the board first in the second inning of game one.
Amanda Huff singled to start the inning. She moved to second on a ground out from
Paige Hertzog and to third when
Abbie Thrower reached on a fielders choice. Chelsea Rowan then knocked in Huff with a sacrifice fly. Concord tied the score with a single run in the fourth.
Seton Hill took the lead in the bottom of the sixth.
Abbey Suhoski singled to open the inning. Pinch runner Allson Kapoll moved to second on a sac bunt by
Ashley Perillo. Huff walked and Hertzog singled to load the bases. Thrower doubled in two and Rowan added another RBI to give SHU a 4-1 lead. Huff got the final out with the tying run at the plate.
Suhoski led the Griffins with two hits. Huff earned the win, going the distance. She gave up the 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 3.
Seton Hill jumped on Ohio Dominican with a run in the top of the first inning.
Christiana Skrabak singled to open the game. She moved up on a sac bunt from
Victoria Stock. Suhoski followed with a single to knock in Srkabak.
ODU responded with 5 runs on 3 hits and used two Griffin errors to take a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning. SHU got a run back in the fifth. Stock tripled to lead off the inning and scored when Suhoski singled.
Skrabak and Suhoski each had two hits in the game
SHU will continue play on Monday with a game with Fairmont State at 3:30 PM and Concordia St Paul at 8:30 PM
