SHU Drops Pair at UNG Captain D's Classic

Seton Hill closed out play in the University of North Georgia's Captain D's Classic on Sunday afternoon with a pair of games.  The Griffins dropped the opener by the score of 7-3 to Shepherd and then were beaten 20-4 in 5 innings by #8 North Georgia.  SHU ends the classic with a 0-4 record.

Shepherd jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings on the Griffins.  Christiana Skrabak got a run back in the third when she singled in Ashley PerilloBrooke Bower picked up an RBI from a bases loaded hit by pitch in the fourth to trim the lead to 5-2.  The Rams got those two runs back in the sixth to build their lead back to 7-2.  Perillo drove in Allison Kapoll for the game's final run in the Griffins seventh.

Christiana Skrabak led the offense with three hits, including two doubles.  Ashley Perillo and Paige Hertzog each added two hits.

#8 North Georgia scored 10 runs in their first two at bats against the Griffins in game two.  The Griffins put up a three spot in the second thanks to two home runs.  Abbey Suhoski led off the inning with a solo shot.  Hertzog then hit a two run homer to knock in Allie Harvey who singled.  The Griffins got their final run of the game in the third when Bower scored when Danelle Locke reached on a fielders choice.

Seven Griffins had one hit led by Suhoski and Hertzog who homered and Skrabak who doubled.

The Griffins will return to action on March 4th when they are scheduled to host Penn State Greater Allegheny.
