Seton Hill concluded its PSAC Crossover weekend with a road matchup with West Chester on Sunday afternoon. The Griffins trailed by as many as 24 points in the game and were able to cut the lead to five late but two technical fouls ended that threat as the Rams came away with an 88-75 victory. SHU drops to 3-5 on the season and 1-3 in PSAC play while the Rams remain undefeated at 7-0.
Nathan Davis and
Trevor Lecuona each hit threes and
Spencer Casson hit two jumpers as the Griffins jumped out to an early 10-4 lead. Over the next ten minutes, the Rams outscored the Griffins by a 21-4 margin to take a 25-14 lead with seven and a half minutes to play before the half. A three pointer from
Anthony Karabatsos trimmed the Rams lead to 27-22 with just under six minutes to go. Over the final six minutes, the Rams outscored the Griffins 21-6 to take a 48-28 lead into the halftime break.
West Chester extended their lead to 56-32 with a little more than 18 minutes to play in the game. Over the next seven minutes, the Griffins went on a 19-1 run to trim the Ram lead to 57-51.
Trevor Blondin had eight points during the run. West Chester answered back and was able to push its lead back to fifteen at 73-58 with 7:27 to play in the game. The Rams continued to hold the fifteen point lead at the under four media timeout. SHU then went on a 10-0 run, the first a three pointer from Lecuona and the last a bucket from
Tommy Sekunda, that cut the lead to 80-75 with 1:17 to play. After missing two jumpers the Griffins were hit with two technical fouls after a foul on the floor and the Rams went 6-6 from the line to put the game away.
Trevor Blondin and
Spencer Casson each scored 16 points for the Griffins.
Trevor Lecuona and
Tommy Sekunda each added 9 points.
SHU will return to action next Saturday when they travel to Kutztown for another PSAC crossover.
