The Griffins took a break from PSAC action for a road non conference matchup at Salem International on Wednesday afternoon. Seton Hill built an eight point halftime lead and escaped with a 75-72 road win. SHU is now 3-3 overall on the season.
Seton Hill used a 7-0 run early in the half to build a 13-7 lead with 14:50 to play in the first half. Salem battled back to take an 18-15 lead with 11:11 remaining in the half. The Tigers built their lead to as many as five points before the Griffins responded and retook the lead 24-22 on a
Tommy Sekunda three pointer with just under seven minutes remaining. After trailing 30-28 with 3:37 to play, the Griffins closed the half on a 10-2 run to take a 38-32 halftime lead.
Trevor Lecuona and
Nathan Davis each hit three pointers during the run.
Two baskets from
Spencer Casson and one from Lecuona extended the Griffins lead to 44-36 less than three minutes into the half. Less than four minutes later, Salem retook a 47-46 lead. With just over ten minutes to play, Salem took their largest lead of the half at 53-49. Two free throws from Sekunda, four points from Casson and a basket from
Tyler Bowling gave the Griffins a 57-53 with 7:47 to play. Back to back baskets from Davis pushed the Griffins lead to 63-56 with just over five minutes remaining. The Tigers would get no closer than three points the remainder of the game.
Nathan Davis led the Griffins with 19 points.
Spencer Casson finished the game with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals.
Trevor Lecuona added 13 points and 7 rebounds.
Tyler Bowling and
Tommy Sekunda each added 9 points.
SHU won't return to action until December 2nd and 3rd when they travel to East Stroudsburg and West Chester.
