Griffins Sweep the Rock

The Griffins won their fourth straight match following a sweep at Slippery Rock on Saturday afternoon.  With the three set win, the Griffins improve to 12-3 overall and 5-1 in PSAC play.  The Rock, who opened the season 8-0, have lost ten in a row to drop to 8-10 overall and 0-6 in PSAC play.

The first set was very tightly played as the Rock held a 13-12 lead over the Griffins.  From that point on, SHU went on a 13-2 run to close out the set and take a 1-0 lead with a 25-15 first set win.  SHU used 4-0 and 7-0 runs to close out the set.

Slippery Rock used a 6-0 run to take a 23-18 lead late in the second set.  Back to back kills from Rachel Satira and Sidney Chapman cut the lead to 23-20.  The Rock took advantage of a hitting error to take a 24-20 lead.  Leah Bisignani then took over the set and helped the Griffins to a 2-0 lead.  Katie Wenson had the first kill that was followed by a Bisignani block.  Leah then ran off four straight kills to give the Griffins a 26-24 win.

Seton Hill led throughout the third set.  They used a 3-0 and 5-0 run to take a 22-13 lead before closing out the match with a 25-20 third set win.

Viktoria Farian posted her eighth double double of the season with 17 kills and 10 digs.  Wenson and Bisignani each finished the match with 10 kills.  Maggie Murray finished the match with 24 assists.  Mary Baich had 15 digs while Hannah Moeller finished with 11.

Seton Hill will open up PSAC Southwest play on Tuesday evening when they travel to California (PA) for a 7 PM start.
