Bisignani Leads Griffins to Sweep at California (PA)

Seton Hill opened up PSAC Southwest Division play at California (PA) on Tuesday evening.  The Griffins cruised to a three set sweep over the Vulcans.  SHU improves to 13-3 overall and 6-1 in PSAC action while the Vulcans drop to 11-7 and 5-2 in PSAC play. 
 
The Griffins opened the first set on a 4-0 run thanks to a kill and block from Leah Bisignani.  SHU extended the lead to 6-1 early in the set.  The Griffins were able to extend their lead to 12-4, using a 5-0 run, forcing the Vulcans to take a timeout. 
 
Back to back kills from Bisignani and a kill from Maggie Murray gave the Griffins a 20-11 lead.  California got back to within six at 21-15 but another kill from Bisignani and a block from Bisignani and Viktoria Farian pushed the lead back to 23-15.  Kills from Erin Parks and Katie Wenson ended the set and gave SHU a 1-0 lead after a 25-17 first set win.
 
With the set tied at four, the Griffins went on a 4-0 run to take an 8-4 lead.  SHU was able to extend the lead to 11-5 forcing the Vulcans to take a timeout.  Two more kills from Bisignani pushed the Griffins lead to 17-8 and the Vulcans took their final timeout.  SHU continued to roll in the set and took a 2-0 lead with a 25-10 second set win.
 
The Griffins jumped out to a quick 9-4 lead in the third set.  They extended the lead to 16-7 midway thru the set.  SHU cruised to a 25-11 third set win and a sweep in the match. 
 
SHU hit .349 in the match compared to just .088 for the Vulcans. 
 
Leah Bisignani had a career high 19 kills to lead the Griffins to victory.  She also added 6 total blocks.  Jillian Livorse finished with 9 kills.  Viktoria Farian finished with 7 kills and 13 digs.  Maggie Murray ran the offense with 28 assists.  Mary Baich had 19 digs.  Hannah Moeller added 13 digs and Livorse added 10.
 
SHU will host Gannon on Friday evening at 7 PM.
