The Griffin men's soccer team made the trip to central PA needing a PSAC road victory at Lock Haven on Saturday afternoon. SHU got that key road win after a 3-2 victory against the Bald Eagles. SHU improves to 6-5-1 overall and 3-3 in PSAC action while the Bald Eagles fall to 6-4-3 overall and 3-3-1 in PSAC play.
It did not take the Griffins long to get on the scoreboard.
Henrik Berg scored just 2:35 into the contest giving the Griffins a 1-0 lead. Berg finished a thru ball from
Alex Dyson and finished far post for the game's first goal. The Griffins carried that 1-0 lead into the halftime break. SHU held a 3-2 advantage in shots in the half.
Lock Haven tied the score in the 67th minute. Berg answered less than two minutes later with a goal off a free kick to give the Griffins a 2-1 lead. With 2:23 to play in the game,
Tom Urquhart broke away on a breakaway and beat the keeper far post to give SHU a 3-1 lead. Just a minute later, the Griffins were called for a foul in the box and the Bald Eagles scored on the penalty kick to cut the lead to 3-2.
Jacin Smith finished with 3 saves in net for the victory.
SHU will travel to take on the University of the District of Columbia on Tuesday afternoon in a non conference matchup.
