Seton Hill and Edinboro were tied at 20 with 13 minutes to play in the second quarter but the Scots scored the final 49 points of the game in route to a 69-20 victory over the Griffins. SHU remains winless on the season while the Scots improve to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in PSAC West action.
Edinboro won the toss and took the football and needed just one play, a 65 yard run to take a 7-0 lead on the first play of the game. Seton Hill answered with a 45 yard catch and run from
Christian Strong to
Jarvis McClam that cut the Scots lead to 7-6 early in the first quarter. The Scots then drove 73 yards in eight plays to push their lead to 13-6 with 9:56 left in the first quarter. The Griffins came right back with a seven play, 59 yard drive, capped by a four yard run from McClam to tie the score at 13 midway thru the first quarter. On the next Edinboro drive, the Griffins were able to turn the Scots over on downs at the SHU nine yard line after a nice stop from
Noah Davis on a fourth and eight play. Seton Hill drove to the Edinboro 38 yard line but were forced to punt on the first play of the second quarter.
On their first drive of the second quarter, the Scots hit on an 82 yard bomb to take a 20-13 lead early in the second quarter. It only took the Griffins two plays to tie the score. Strong connected with a wide open
Deandre Smith for a 64 yard touchdown that tied the score at 20 with 12:46 left in the half. The Scots scored on their next drive and took advantage of a Griffin interception to take a 34-20 lead into the halftime break.
It was all Edinboro as they scored on their first five possessions of the second half in route to the 69-20 victory.
Christian Strong finished the day 15-23 for 190 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Jarvis McClam rushed for 72 yards and one touchdown. He also had four catches for 57 yards and a touchdown.
Khalil Owens had a good day returning kicks. He finished with 198 return yards.
Fardan Allen led the Griffins with 9 tackles.
Noah Davis and
Cole Shuker each added 8.
Seton Hill will close out their home portion of the schedule next week when they host Slippery Rock. Kickoff is set for 12 noon and it will be Senior Day.
