The Griffins took a break from PSAC Southwest Division play to play some crossover action against a PSAC Central opponent on Friday evening in Lock Haven. SHU was able to extend their winning streak to five matches with a sweep of the Bald Eagles. SHU improves to 18-4 on the season and 10-2 in PSAC play.
Seton Hill scored the first five points in the first set and never looked back in the set. Two kills from
Katie Wenson helped the Griffins take a 13-3 lead midway thru the match. After Lock Haven cut the lead to 16-7, the Griffins ended the set on a 9-1 run to take the first set by a 25-8 score.
With Lock Haven leading 4-3 in the second set, SHU used kills from
Jillian Livorse and two from
Viktoria Farian to take a 6-4 lead. Leading 8-7, the Griffins went on a 6-0 run to build a 14-7 lead. Lock Haven used a 10-4 run late in the set to trim the Griffins lead to 22-20. Back to back kills from
Maggie Murray and one from
Leah Bisignani ended the set and gave SHU a 2-0 lead in the match.
The third set was a lot tighter throughout. Lock Haven used a 7-1 run to break a 12-12 tie midway thru the set. Lock Haven led 23-18 late in the set. The Griffins closed the fifth set on a 7-0 run to take the set and the match with a 25-23 win.
Bisignani led the Griffins with 14 kills and just 1 error in 28 attempts. Farian added 9 kills and 11 digs. Livorse and Murray each finished with 8 kills. Murray added 36 assists.
Mary Baich had a match high 17 digs.
SHU will continue play against PSAC Central teams on Saturday when they travel to Pitt Johnstown for a 1 PM start.
