Neither team was able to score in the first 100 minutes of the contest sending the Griffins and Mercyhurst into a penalty shootout. The Griffins won the shootout by a 4-3 score to give the Griffins a 1-0 victory over the Lakers. SHU is now 4-13 overall and 1-8 in PSAC play. Mercyhurst drops to 7-10 overall and 2-7 in PSAC play.

The Lakers outshot the Griffins 4-2 in the second half but neither team was able to get a shot on goal.
In the first overtime period, it was all about Piekarz as she made 7 huge saves to keep the game scoreless.
Piekarz also made two saves in the second overtime period to send the game to a penalty shootout.
Kayla Chapman answered a Laker goal in the first round of penalty shots. In the second round, Piekarz made a save while
Molly Childress scored to give SHU a 2-1 advantage after two rounds. Caitlyn Bray kept the Griffins in the lead with a goal in the third round as SHU led 3-2. Mercyhurst tied the shootout at three with a goal in the fourth round, sending the match to the fifth round tied at three. Piekarz made a save setting up
Ashley Curnow with a chance to win it for the Griffins. Curnow buried her shot, giving the Griffins a 4-3 win in the shootout and a 1-0 win in the match.
Piekarz earned the shutout, making 11 saves in cage.
SHU closes out their season on Saturday when they host Bloomsburg for Senior Day at noon.
