Bisignani Paces SHU To 3-0 Win Over Mercyhurst

GREENSBURG, Pa. - Leah Bisignani had 10 kills and three aces as the Seton Hill University women's volleyball team defeated Mercyhurst University, 25-22, 25-10, 25-20, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the McKenna Center. 

The Griffins improve to 14-4 overall and 7-2 in the PSAC. Mercyhurst falls to 6-14 on the season and 1-8 in the conference.

The Griffins started off the first set with kills by Viktoria Farian and Jillian Livorse, but Mercyhurst would rally to take a 4-2 lead. The two teams would battle back as the set would feature seven ties. With the game tied at 20 apiece, Seton Hill used a Hurst attack error followed by Maggie Murray's kill and a service ace on the following point to build a 23-20 lead. After a service error by Seton Hill, Brynn Fluery got the Griffins back on track with a kill from Livorse. The Lakers would score to bring the score to 24-22, but Fluery would put the game away with a kill on the next point.

Seton Hill dominated the second set, streaking out to a 10-3 lead on their way to the 25-10 victory. In game three, Seton Hill build a 6-2 lead and held off a strong Laker effort late to take the 25-20 win.

For the match, Leah Bisignani led the Griffins with 10 kills while Katie Wenson and Viktoria Farian had six kills apiece. Bisignani had three aces, and Maggie Murray had one. Wenson came away with four blocks, Bisignani had three, and Livorse had two. Murray had 20 assists with Brynn Fluery kicking in 14 herself. Farian and Mary Baich finished with 16 and 14 digs, respectively.

Seton Hill returns to the actions on Friday, October 20th when they welcome Indiana University of Pennsylvania to the McKenna Center.
