Seton Hill hosted Bloomsburg in a key PSAC conference matchup at Dick's Sporting Goods Field on Friday afternoon. The Griffins took advantage of their shots as they scored four times on seven shots in a 4-2 victory over the Huskies. SHU improves to 8-0 at home, 9-4-1 overall and 7-4-1 in PSAC play. Bloomsburg drops to 7-4-2 overall and 6-4-2 in PSAC play.
The Griffins did not waste much time getting on the scoreboard in the first half as they scored just 2:37 into the contest.
Amy Lynch sent a ball from her own end over the top of the defense and
Emily LoPresti ran onto it, beating the keeper to the ball and touched the ball into the open net for the 1-0 lead. Just over ten minutes later, Bloomsburg tied the score at one with a header over the keeper's head. With seven minutes to play in the half, the Griffins took a 2-1 lead. Lynch again made a nice pass from deep in her own end and this time found
Syaani Harris behind the defense who beat the keeper to give SHU a lead. SHU was outshot 13-2 in the first half but made the most of their opportunities, scoring on both shots.
Just over ten minutes into the second half, the Griffins extended their lead to 3-1. LoPresti scored her second of the game off a corner kick. She headed in the corner from
Emma Bearinger to make it 3-1. Thirty two seconds later, the Huskies cut the Griffins lead to 3-2 with a goal off a cross.
Madison Schwerzler gave the Griffins some breathing room with a goal in the 76th minute. Her blast from 25 yards out beat the keeper and gave the Griffins a 4-2 lead.
Bloomsburg outshot the Griffins by a 16-7 margin.
Jessica Neill recorded 8 saves in the win. LoPresti finished with two goals, including her seventh game winner of the year. Lynch added two assists.
