Seton Hill closed out their PSAC Crossovers with a matchup at Cheyney on Wednesday evening. The Griffins led for the entire first half, including an 11 point lead, but it could not hold that lead and dropped a 63-59 decision on the road at Cheyney. SHU falls to 7-9 overall and 4-8 in PSAC play while Cheyney improves to 2-14 overall and 2-10 in PSAC play.
The Griffins took an early 12-2 lead less than four minutes into the game with
Noah Davis scoring eight of the twelve points. After a three pointer from Davis, SHU led 15-4 with 15:40 to play in the half. Cheyney tied the game twice in the half but the Griffins never trailed as they took a 29-27 lead into the halftime break.
The first ten minutes of the second half featured seven ties. Davis drained a three with 9:57 to go to give the Griffins a 49-44 lead. Cheyney scored five points to tie the game at 49. The game was also tied at 52 and 54 before SHU took a 57-54 lead on a
Brandon Alston basket with 4:46 to play. The Wolves scored five straight to take a 59-57 lead before both
Zach Herman and Alston hit one of two free throws to tie the score at 59 with 2:21 to go. Cheyney hit a basket with 1:18 to go to take the lead for good and Davis' three pointer with two seconds remaining missed and Cheyney hit two free throws to ice the game.
Noah Davis scored a career high 34 points in the loss. He was the only Griffin to reach double figures.
Spencer Casson finished with 8 points and 8 rebounds.
SHU returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Pitt Johnstown.
