The Griffins headed to California (PA) for a PSAC West battle on Saturday afternoon. SHU scored the first four points of the game, but that would be the only lead they would hold as the Vulcans came away with a 69-61 victory. SHU drops to 7-8 overall and 4-7 in PSAC play.
Neither team got off to a quick start as it was 4-3 at the first media timeout.
Fernando Salsamendi scored the first four points of the contest in the game's first minute to give SHU a 4-0 lead.
Noah Davis' three pointer cut the Cal lead to 12-11 with 12:25 left in the half. Cal then went on a 13-4 lead to extend their lead to 25-15 with 7:49 to play in the first half. Back to back buckets from Davis cut the Cal lead to 33-26 but the Vulcans answered with four straight to take a 37-26 at the final media timeout of the half. The Vulcans carried that eleven point lead into the halftime break with a 41-30 lead.
The Griffins used a 6-0 run to cut the Vulcans lead to 45-38 at the first media timeout of the half. SHU used baskets from
Spencer Casson, Salsamendi and
Damjan Sredanovic. Cal responded with an 8-0 run of their own to take a 53-38 lead. SHU was able to close the lead to 55-44 on baskets from
Manny Joshua and Sredanovic with 8:47 left to play. Cal U came right back and scored the next five points to extend the lead to sixteen points at 60-44. The Vulcans continued to extend their lead and held a 67-48 lead with 5:19 to play in the game. SHU got back to within fifteen at the under four media timeout as they trailed 67-52. Back to back old fashioned three point plays from Salsamendi and a bucket from Joshua cut the Vulcans lead to 68-60 with 2:35 to play.

Damjan Sredanovic led the Griffins with 13 points each.
Fernando Salsamendi added 12 points.
Seton Hill will travel to Cheyney on Wednesday evening.
