Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Late Heroics Fall Short Against Mercyhurst

GREENSBURG, Pa. - Noah Davis' three gave Seton Hill the lead with under a minute to play, but it wasn't to be as SHU fell to Mercyhurst, 63-62, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference men's basketball action on Wednesday night.

The loss drops SHU to 7-7 on the year and 4-6 in the PSAC. Mercyhurst improves to 7-7 overall and 5-5 in PSAC play.

After seeing the Laker's build their largest lead of the game, 48-39, with 12:09 remaining in the second half, Seton Hill would go on a 23-12 run over the next 11:39 to take their first lead of the night, 62-60, with 30 seconds remaining in the game. Noah Davis led the run, scoring 13 of his game-high 18 points during the last 5:00 of the contest culminating in a three that gave SHU the lead. After a Mercyhurst timeout, it seemed like the Seton Hill defense had secured the win. However, an errant pass after a Mercyhurst missed shot was stolen at midcourt, and Lorenzo Collier's three gave the visitors the lead. Zach Herman's attempt at a game-winner from half court rimmed out, giving us the final 63-62 score.

Noah Davis' scored a game-high 18 points on 6-of-14 from the floor, including 4-for-5 from three and 2-for-2 from the foul line. Fernando Salsamendi scored 13 points on 4-of-5 from the floor and 5-of-7 from the line. Tyler Bowling had eight and Nathan Davis had six before leaving the game due to injury. Mercyhurst was led by Lorenzo Collier's 15 points on 6-of-12 from the floor. Collier hit on three of his six three-point attempt, none being more important than the game winner. Durrell McDonald scored nine points while Malcolm Walters and Connor Polce each had eight points.

For the game, Mercyhurst made 23 of their 59 shots for 39.0%. The Lakers hit just five of their 16 attempts from long-range and only 12 of their 22 attempts from the charity stripe.
