Seton Hill entered their PSAC opener with Cal on a high after opening the season with two straight wins. The Griffins entered the NSCAA Top 25 yesterday as well. California put a damper on the Griffins home opener with a 2-0 win over the Griffins. SHU falls to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in PSAC play.
Seton Hill dominated the first half of the game, outshooting the Vulcans by a 6-1 margin. The game was stopped with 5:34 to play in the half for a lightning delay and that seemed to slow down the Griffins some. California began to take control of the game after the game resumed.
Just over three minutes into the second half, the Griffin defense and their keeper had a miscommunication which resulted in a foul in the box and a penalty kick for the Vulcans. Elliot Taylor took the penalty kick and Griffin keeper
Austin Iddon made the save but the rebound bounced back to an unmarked Vulcan who put the rebound into the empty net for a 1-0 lead. Cal took advantage of a set piece in the 70th minute. The Vulcans finished a free kick with a diving header in the box for a 2-0 lead.
Cal outshot SHU 7-5 in the second half.
Austin Iddon recorded 2 saves in the loss.
Curtis Gallagher finished the contest with 5 shots.
