Griffins Shutout Mansfield in PSAC Action

Seton Hill hosted Mansfield in PSAC action on Friday afternoon in the first game of a PSAC doubleheader this weekend.  The Griffins scored two goals in the first half and got a shutout from keeper Jessica Neill for a 2-0 victory.  The Griffins improve to 3-4-2 overall and 3-4-2 in PSAC action.  Mansfield drops to 1-6-1 overall and 1-6 in PSAC play.

The Griffins came out of the gates fast with 5 shots on goal in the game's first 25 minutes.  SHU finally got on the scoreboard first in the 28th minute.  Emily LoPresti found a loose ball off a Mansfield defender and hit a shot from 30 yards out, putting it over the keeper's head and into the back of the net.  Just over three minutes later the Griffins took advantage of a corner kick.  Amy Lynch took the corner kick and the ball was punched back out to the corner where Lynch took the ball and put it into the back of the net for a 2-0 Griffin lead.  Seton Hill took the 2-0 lead into the halftime break.  The Griffins held an 11-4 advantage in shots in the first half.

Jessica Neill and the Griffin defense took a hold of the game in the second half.  Neill made 6 saves in the half to preserve the shutout. 

Neill finished the game with 9 saves in the win.  Its her fourth shutout of the season.

SHU will continue PSAC play on Saturday when they host Lock Haven at 4:30 PM.
