Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Late Goal Lifts Gannon over Griffins

The Griffins continued PSAC play in Erie on Saturday as they looked to improve to 2-0 with a game against Gannon.  SHU took a 1-0 lead and rallied to tie the score at two before giving up a goal in the game's final minute to drop a 3-2 decision to the #21 Golden Knights.  SHU drops to 1-1 overall and in PSAC play.  Gannon improves to 1-0-1 overall and 1-0 in PSAC play.

Seton Hill scored first in the game when Emily LoPresti scored her second goal of the season to give the Griffins a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute of the game.  LoPresti stole the ball off a Gannon defender, dribbled around the keeper and put the ball in an empty net.  SHU had a chance to make it 2-0 late in the half when they had a one on one with the goalie but pushed the shot wide.  SHU took the 1-0 lead into the halftime break.  Jessica Neill made 4 saves in the half as the Knights outshot the Griffins by a 10-6 margin.

The Griffins held that 1-0 lead until the Knights tied the score at one with a goal in the 64th minute on a header off a cross.  Just over eight minutes later, the Knights took a 2-1 lead on a shot from about 25 yards out.  SHU responded and tied the score at two on a goal from Emma Bearinger in the 81st minute.  Bri Kostan assisted on the Bearinger goal.  Kostan crossed the ball in with Bearinger poking the ball in the net.  The game looked like it would go to overtime but the Knights took advantage of a free kick and scored the game winner with 58 seconds to play in regulation.

Jessica Neill finished the game with 9 saves in net.  Gannon outshot the Griffins 19-9 in the contest.

SHU will continue road PSAC play on Wednesday when they travel to California for a 6 PM start.
