The Griffins hosted Pitt Johnstown on Tuesday afternoon in a PSAC conference matchup. Seton Hill scored twice in each half in route to a 4-1 victory over the visiting Mountain Cats. SHU improves to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in PSAC play while UPJ drops to 1-6 overall and 1-4 in PSAC action.
Seton Hill did not waste much time in getting on the scoreboard. SHU found the back of the net less than eight minutes into the contest.
Rory McKinnon took a pass in the box and slipped it to
Curtis Gallagher who beat the UPJ keeper to give SHU a 1-0 lead.
Tom Urquhart made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute of the contest. He took a pass from
Ryan Doyle who was streaking down the right side and slid it past the UPJ keeper for the 2-0 advantage. SHU took the 2-0 lead into the half time break. The Griffins held a 16-2 advantage in shots in the first half.
The second half was like the first half except that the the Griffins surrendered the early goal. Just under three minutes into the half, the Mountain Cats scored to cut the SHU lead to 2-1. Just over five minutes later the Griffins retook their two goal lead. Urquhart hit
Rory McKinnon in the box and McKinnon found the back of the net for a 3-1 Griffin advantage. McKinnon assisted on the Griffins final goal of the game when
Joe Smith gave SHU a 4-1 lead with just over 16 minutes left in the contest.
SHU held a 24-5 advantage in shots and 11-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Austin Iddon recorded 2 saves in net for the win. McKinnon led the Griffins with a goal and 2 assists. Urquhart added a goal and an assist.
SHU returns to action on Saturday when they host Lock Haven.
