Morrison Scores Game Winner with 38 Seconds to Play in 3-2 Win

The Griffins field hockey team tuned up for its first PSAC conference game on Saturday with its final mandated game of the season at Mercyhurst on Tuesday afternoon.  Seton Hill jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Mercyhurst but saw the Lakers tie the score at two.  Jaydyn Morrison scored with 38 seconds left in the game to give the Griffins the 3-2 win.  Its the second straight victory for the Griffins as they improve to 2-5 on the season.

Alesha Herman gave the Griffins a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 23rd minute of the contest.  Dominique Cappello assisted on the Herman goal.  Seton Hill took that 1-0 lead into the halftime break.  The Lakers outshot the Griffins 10-2 in the first half but could not beat Griffin keeper Jane Eberhardt

Herman scored her second goal of the game just over five minutes into the second half.  Just over eight minutes later the Lakers scored their first goal of the game to trim the SHU lead to 2-1.  With just under 13 minutes left in the half, the Lakers tied the score at two.  The Griffins scored the game winner off a penalty corner.  Jaydyn Morrison took the penalty corner and found Kayla Chapman who got the ball back to Morrison who scored the game winning goal with 38 seconds left in the contest.

SHU was outshot 18-5 and the Lakers had a 13-5 advantage in penalty corners.  Eberhardt recorded 6 saves in cage for the win.
