The Griffin field hockey team opened PSAC play on Saturday morning when they traveled to #3 Shippensburg for the conference opener for both teams. The Raiders scored once in the first half and added four more in the second half for the 5-0 victory. SHU drops to 2-6 overall and 0-1 in conference play while Ship improves to 7-1 overall and 1-0 in PSAC play.
Shippensburg got on the board in the 19th minute on a shot from three yards out to take a 1-0 lead. Ship outshot the Griffins 9-1 in the first half. SHU keeper
Jane Eberhardt recorded 3 saves in net in the half.
The second half was all Raiders as they scored four times for the win. Ship scored twice in thirty four seconds for their first two goals of the second half to built a 3-0 lead. Just over ten minutes later the Raiders scored twice in a two minute span for the 5-0 advantage.
Eberhardt finished the game with 6 saves. SHU returns to action next Saturday when they host Millersville at 12 PM.
