McKinnon's Goal Lifts SHU Over Bloomsburg In OT

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - Rory McKinnon scored in the 96th minute to lift the Seton Hill University men's soccer team to a 2-1 win in overtime against Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action at Steph Pettit Stadium in Bloomsburg, Pa on Saturday, September 17th. 

The win marks Seton Hill Coach Dan McCarty's 100th victory as the head head of the Griffins.

Seton Hill improves to 3-3 on the season and 1-1 in the PSAC. Bloomsburg falls to 1-5-1 overall and 0-4-1 in PSAC play.

Bloomsburg's Austin Transue got the game going for the home team, scoring in just the 6th minute of the game. Seton Hill's Tom Urquhart evened the score at 1-1 just inside the 8th minute of the game, receiving a long pass from Ryan Doyle and finding the back of the net. The two teams would battle back and forth for almost 89 minutes before Rory McKinnon snuck behind the Bloomsburg defense to track down a long ball from Joe Smith for the game-winner.

For the game, Seton Hill narrowly outshot Bloomsburg, 15-14 (7-9 on-goal). Tom Urquhart had a game-high 4 shots (2 on-goal) on the day. Joe Smith had three while Rory McKinnon, Curtis Gallagher and Lloyd Davies added two shots apiece. Seton Hill's duo of goalkeepers tallied eight saves in the game. SHU held a decisive 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Seton Hill returns to the pitch on Wednesday, September 21st when they step out of PSAC play to welcome the New York Institute of Technology to Dick's Sporting Goods Field. That game is set for a 4:00 PM start.
