GREENSBURG, Pa. -
Wynnsome Gadson's goal in the 76th minute propelled the Seton Hill University women's field hockey team to a 2-1 overtime win over Mansfield in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Dick's Sporting Goods Field in Greensburg.
Seton Hill improves to 1-5 on the season. Mansfield falls to 1-4.
Nicole Susi got the party started for the Griffins, scoring the first goal of her collegiate career in the 20th minute of the game. Mansfield's Larissa Motts scored in the 54th minute of the game, evening the score at 1-1. That score would stand until Gadson streaked down the field and beat Mansfield's goalkeeper for the overtime winner.
For the game, Seton Hill led Mansfield in shots, 13-11 and 8-7 on-goal. Mansfield held a 9-2 advantage in penalty corners. SHU's
Jane Eberhardt tallied five saves in the game, while
Alexandra Piekarz grabbed one herself. Laura Lawson had six saves for Mansfield.
Seton Hill will look to build on this win when they travel to Erie, Pa to take on Mercyhurst University on Tuesday, September 20th for a 4:00 PM game. SHU and Mansfield will meet again later this season in a designated conference match on October 22nd in Mansfield, Pa.
