Griffins Drop 3-0 Decision at #11 Edinboro

The Griffins made the trip up Interstate 79 for a PSAC matchup with #11 Edinboro on Wednesday evening.  The Scots scored once in the first half and added two more in the second half for the 3-0 victory.  SHU drops to 1-3-1 overall and in PSAC play.  Edinboro is now 5-0 overall and 4-0 in PSAC play and are off to their best start in five years.

Edinboro came out of the gates firing as they had four shots in the game's first seven minutes.  The final shot resulted in the Scots first goal of the game on a header goal, giving the Scots the 1-0 lead.  The Griffins began to settle into the match in the second half of the first period of action.  SHU recorded four shots in the final 15 minutes of the half.  SHU was outshot 9-4 in the half and Griffin keeper Elyza Pilatowski-Herzing recorded 5 saves in the half.

Fourteen minutes into the second half, the Scots increased their lead to 2-0 on a goal scored off a cross.  The Griffins nearly responded 20 seconds later but Emily LoPresti's first shot was blocked and her rebound attempt sailed high.  Edinboro added their third goal in the 77th minute.

Pilatowski-Herzing recorded 8 saves in the contest.

SHU returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Bloomsburg.
