SHU Swept in PSAC West Finale

The Griffin baseball team closed out its PSAC West schedule with a road doubleheader at Gannon on Saturday afternoon.  SHU managed just 8 hits in the doubleheader as they were swept by the Knights.  Gannon took game one by the score of 2-1.  The Knights completed the sweep with a walk off 1-0 victory in game two.  SHU falls to 35-14 overall and completes PSAC West play with a 19-9 mark.  Seton Hill finishes as the two seed in the west and will open PSAC Tourament play next Sunday at 9:30 am against number three seed out of the east East Stroudsburg.

Seton Hill scored their lone run of the day in the second inning of game one.  Chris Miller drew a one out walk.  He moved to second on a Mark Colella single.  Miller then scored when Tyler Sullivan doubled to right field with two outs.  Gannon scored their two runs in the bottom of the third inning.  SHU got a two out double from Zac Heide in the fifth inning but that would be the last base runner the Griffins would get.

Tyler Morder suffered his second loss of the season.  He went the distance, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out two.

The Griffins had two runners on with two outs in each of the first two innings of game two but strike outs looking ended each inning.  SHU got two base runners on with one out in the third and fourth inning but could not drive any of the runners in.  The Griffins left another runner on in the fifth and had a runner caught stealing at second to end the sixth with a runner at third base.  SHU left 10 base runners on in the first six innings of the game, failing to cash in any base runner.  Gannon got the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.  They led off the inning with a single and followed that with another single to put runners on the corners with no one out.  Joe Shaffer then replaced starter Jordan Fuller on the mound.  On Shaffer's second pitch, the outfielder dropped a fly ball, allowing the winning run to score and allowing the Knights to walk off the Griffins.

Fuller suffered the loss.  He worked 6+ innings, giving up the run on 5 hits while striking out 5.  Colella, Colton Carney and Garret Vrbanic each doubled in the game.

SHU will close out the regular season on Tuesday when they travel to Alderson Broaddus for a non conference matchup.
