Seton Hill made the long trip across the state to Kutztown looking to keep its playoff hopes alive with a road victory. The Griffins got 14 saves from
Meghan Hollar and five points, including four goals, from
Emily Fagan in route to a 14-10 road PSAC victory. The Griffins improve to 7-9 overall and 6-5 in PSAC play.
SHU is currently tied with Millersville at 6-5 for the final PSAC playoff spot. Seton Hill owns the tiebreaker over Millersville because of their 18-13 win earlier this season. Seton Hill would clinch a playoff spot with a win next Tuesday and could move up to the fifth spot if they get some help from Indiana (PA). SHU also could clinch a playoff spot on Saturday with a Millersville loss at Gannon and a Slippery Rock loss at home to Shippensburg.
The Griffins got on the scoreboard first. After
Katelyn Cressman won the opening draw,
Emily Fagan scored her first of the game off a feed from
Charlotte Cunningham just over two minutes into the contest. Just over a minute later,
Alexis Petrarca scored from
Renee Kania. Less than a minute later, Kania made it 3-0 off an assist from Fagan. Kutztown got on the board with a goal at the 24:12 mark. The team's went eight minutes without scoring before Cunningham increased the SHU lead to 4-1.
Keagan Pontious scored her first goal of the season, off an assist from
Alessandra Nicholas, giving SHU a 5-1 lead with 14:38 to play in the first half. Kutztown scored the final three goals of the half to trim the lead to 5-4 at the half.
Meghan Hollar made 8 saves in the half.
Petrarca opened the scoring 1:11 into the second half with a free position shot goal. The Golden Bears scored the next two goals to tie the score at 6 with 26:39 to play. A minute later, Pontious scored her second of the game from Cunningham giving the Griffins the lead back. Fagan then scored her 50th goal of the season to increase the SHU lead to 8-6. Cressman scored on a free position shot pushing the lead to 9-6 with 22:19 left. Kutztown responded with three straight goals to tie the score at nine with 16:19 left in the half. Nicholas ended the Kutztown run with her first of the game, giving the Griffins a lead they would not give up. Two minutes later, Fagan increased the lead to 11-9 with her third of the day. With 8:16 to play in the game,
Savannah Monroe pushed the Griffins lead to 12-9. Nicholas and Fagan rounded out the scoring for the Griffins.
Emily Fagan led the Griffins offense with 4 goals and 1 assist.

SHU closes out the regular season with a home matchup with Slippery Rock on Tuesday afternoon.
