Seton Hill closed out its four game set with a PSAC West doubleheader at home against Pitt Johnstown on Saturday afternoon. Seton Hill took game one by the score of 5-1. SHU broke out the bats in game two for an 18-13 win. SHU is now 22-9 overall and 8-4 in PSAC West play.
Game one started out as a pitchers dual between the Griffins
Tyler Morder and UPJ's Camden Hess as both put up zeros on the scoreboard through the first three and a half innings. SHU finally got on the board in the fourth.
Zac Heide led off the inning with a walk and scored when
Chris Miller doubled down the left field line.
Tyler Sullivan followed with an RBI single to increase the lead to 2-0.
Seton Hill added three more runs in the fifth.
Garret Vrbanic drew a walk and scored on an
Anthony Fanelli double. Fanelli scored when Heide homered to center field.
Tyler Morder earned the win. He went 6 innings, giving up 1 hit while striking out 5.
Zac Heide was 2-2 in the game.
The Griffins took a 1-0 lead on a solo homer by
Anthony Fanelli in game two. UPJ responded with two runs in their half of the second to take a 2-1 lead. SHU took the lead in the third inning. Fanelli led off the inning with a single and scored on a Heide double. Miller then made it 4-2 with a 2 run shot to left field.
Pitt Johnstown retook the lead with 5 runs in the top of the fourth inning. SHU came right back with seven runs in their half of the fourth. The big hit of the inning was a grand slam by Malacane.
SHU added four more in the fifth inning on an RBI triple from Heide, an RBI single from Malacane and a two run homer to center from Miller.
Ryan Wardropper, Fanelli and Malacane each drove in runs in the sixth.
Malacane finished the game 3-5 with 6 runs batted in. Heide was 2-2 with 3 RBI. Miller also added 2 hits and 4 RBI. Vrbanic and Fanelli also finished the game with two hits.
Josh Keefe earned his first win of the season in relief.
SHU will now travel to Malone on Wednesday.
