Seton Hill hosted California (PA) in a PSAC West doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. It was the first game for the Griffins after a week and a half break due to the weather. Cal took game one by the score of 3-0. The Vulcans completed the sweep with a 5-3 win in game two. SHU is now 12-20 overall and 5-5 in PSAC West play.
California took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on three hits off Griffin starter
Kaitlyn Kutchman. The Vulcans added another run in the top of the third inning to take a 2-0 lead. Cal added their third run of the game in the sixth inning. SHU managed just five hits in the game.
The Vulcans took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning of game two. Cal added on in the third to increase their lead to 2-0. SHU tied the score at two in the bottom of the third inning.
Caitlin Tobin led off the inning with a walk. She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from
Monica Joseph.
Carlee Wickstrom singled to put runners at first and third. Wickstrom stole second and Tobin scored on a Vulcan error.
Victoria Stock then tied the score at two with a two out RBI single.
Cal then retook the lead in the top of the fourth with three runs.
Ashley Perillo led off the sixth inning with a single. Pinch runner
Erika Arriola stole second and scored on a single from
Paige Hertzog.
Carlee Wickstrom led the Griffins with two hits in game two.
Seton Hill will travel to Gannon on Friday for another PSAC West doubleheader.
