The Griffin softball team returned to PSAC West play as they hosted Gannon on Friday afternoon.
Kaitlyn Kutchman threw a no hitter in game one as the Griffins defeated Gannon 8-0 in five innings. The Griffins bats unloaded in game two for 21 runs on 21 hits in route to a 21-2 victory, completing the sweep over the Knights. SHU is now 12-16 on the season and 5-1 in PSAC West action.
Seton Hill got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the first inning.
Monica Joseph led off with a single and scored on a double from
Carlee Wickstrom. Wickstrom then scored on a single by
Abbey Suhoski, giving the Griffins a 2-0 lead.
Michaela LeDonne walked and
Victoria Stock homered to give SHU a 5-0 lead in the first.
The Griffins added 3 more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Wickstrom drove in two runs in the inning with a single. Suhoski made it 8-0 when she drove in Wickstrom with a single.
Kaitlyn Kutchman earned her seventh inning of the season with a 5 inning no hitter. She struck out 3 and walked one.
Carlee Wickstrom and
Abbey Suhoski each had two hits in the win.
Seton Hill scored four times in the first inning of game two. Joseph led off the inning with a single. She scored when Suhoski singled and an error occurred in the outfield. Stock doubled to right driving in a run and
Paige Hertzog singled in two runs to give SHU a 4-0 lead.
The Griffins added 7 more runs in the bottom of the second inning, pushing their lead to 11-0. Suhoski and Hertzog each drove in two runs and Joseph added another RBI as SHU took an 11-0 lead. SHU continued to add on in the third. Suhoski singled to lead off the third and scored on a two run shot from Kutchman.
SHU continued to pile on in the third inning, scoring 9 times to take a 20-0 lead. Gannon scored twice in the fourth to cut into the lead. Wickstrom hit a solo homer in the fourth to push the lead to 21-2.
Suhoski led the Griffins offense going 5-5. Kutchman was 4-4. Joseph, Wickstrom, LeDonne, Stock and Hertzog each had 2 hits. Kutchman earned her second win of the day in the circle.
SHU will continue PSAC West play on Saturday when they host Mercyhurst.
