The Griffins hosted Indiana (PA) in a nonconference doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. The Crimson Hawks used a seven run seventh inning for a 10-4 win in game one. IUP shut down the Griffin bats to complete the sweep with a 3-0 win. SHU is now 10-16 on the season.
Seton Hill got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the first inning. After an out,
Carlee Wickstrom and
Abbey Suhoski singled. They both moved up on a wild pitch.
Ashley Perillo then drove in Wickstrom with a sacrifice fly to center.
Michaela LeDonne increased the SHU lead to 2-0 with a leadoff homer in the bottom of the second. IUP answered with two runs in their half of the third inning to tie the score at two.
The Griffins retook the lead in the bottom of the fourth.
Abbie Thrower led off with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from
Caitlin Tobin. She scored on a double to the gap from
Monica Joseph. The Crimson Hawks tied the score at three on a wild pitch in the top of the fifth. IUP sent 12 batters to the plate in the top of the seventh to take a 10-3 lead over the Griffins. SHU trimmed into the IUP lead in the seventh. Wickstrom reached on an error and moved to third on a single from Suhoski. Perillo then singled in Wickstrom to cut the lead to 10-4.
Monica Joseph and
Abbey Suhoski each had two hits for the Griffins.
IUP took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of game two. The Crimson Hawks added on with two more runs in the top of the second inning.
Danelle Locke had the lone two hits for the Griffins in game two.
SHU will host Gannon in a PSAC West doubleheader on Friday.
