SHU Swept by Pitt Johnstown

Due to weather conditions in Johnstown, the Griffins doubleheader with Pitt Johnstown was moved to Greensburg with the Lady Cats remaining the home team.  UPJ shutout the Griffins in game one by the score of 4-0.  SHU dropped game two by the score of 12-10.  Griffins fall to 7-11 overall.

Pitt Johnstown took advantage of two Griffin walks and then got a two out double to take a 1-0 lead after one inning.  The Lady Cats added on in the fifth inning with 3 runs on 3 hits to take a 4-0 lead.

Carlee Wickstrom led SHU with 2 hits.

UPJ jumped on the Griffins for four runs in the bottom of the first inning.  The Lady Cats added three more runs in the bottom of the second inning to increase their lead to 7-0.

SHU responded with six runs of their own in the third.  Michaela LeDonne and Danelle Locke led off the inning with a single.  Abbey Suhoski then drove in both runners to cut the lead to 7-2.  Paige Hertzog singled to load the bases and Ashley Perillo cleared the bases with a triple.  Erika Arriola drove in the sixth run of the inning with a single.  The Griffins tied the game at 8 in the fourth with RBI's from Wickstrom and Hertzog.

UPJ scored three times in the bottom of the fourth to retake an 11-8 lead.  Wickstrom and Stock each drove in runs in the seventh but a groundout ended the threat with two runners on.
