DellaValle Dominant as Griffins Defeat Coker

Seton Hill hosted Coker to open a three game set on Friday afternoon in Greensburg.  The series was supposed to be played in Hartsville, SC but was moved to Greensburg because of the weather.  It's the furthest north the Coker program has played a game.  SHU scored 14 runs in their final three at bats for a 16-6 win.  SHU improves to 9-4 overall.

The Griffins got on the board first in the bottom of the first.  After an out, Tyler Sullivan singled.  He moved to third on a double by Anthony FanelliChris Miller walked to load the bases.  Sullivan scored when Zac Heide reached on an error and Matt Malacane executed a squeeze play to give the Griffins a 2-0 lead.  The Griffins loaded the bases with two outs in the second but a pick off ended the inning.

Seton Hill added on in the sixth inning.  After an out, Matt Malacane hit a solo homer.  Colton Carney doubled and scored on a Chris Law single.  Garret Vrbanic then made it 6-0 with a two run shot to left field.

SHU poured it on in the seventh inning with 9 runs.  Zac Heide started the inning with a RBI double.  Malacane and Miller then each hit three run homers to extend the SHU lead to 15-0 after seven innings of play.

Perry DellaValle was magical on the mound earning the win.  He went 8 scoreless innings.  He gave up just 4 hits and struck out 8.
