The Griffin softball team opened play on their spring trip by splitting a pair of games in Clermont, FL. The Griffins dropped their first contest of the day by the score of 5-4 to Saint Anselm. SHU earned the split with a 7-6 victory over Georgian Court.
Seton Hill opened the scoring with four runs in the top of the second against Georgian Court.
Ashley Perillo opened the inning off with a single. She moved to second on a sacrifice by
Abbey Suhoski. Perillo scored when
Paige Hertzog reached on an error.
Erika Arriola and
Victoria Stock each added RBI singles in the inning.
Reagan Rush singled with one out in the fourth.
Shannon Horan pinch ran for Rush and scored when
Victoria Stock reached on an error. The Griffins added two more runs in the fifth. Perillo doubled with one out and scored when Suhoski reached on an error.
Courtney Hrabosky pinch ran for Suhoski and scored on a wild pitch to give SHU a 7-0 lead. Georgian Court trimmed the lead to 7-3 with 3 runs in the sixth. They added 3 more runs in the seventh but
Kaitlyn Kutchman recorded the final two outs of the game to earn the save.
Perillo led the Griffins with 3 hits.
Hayley Morgan earned the win, going 5 1/3 innings while giving up 1 run on 1 hit.
SHU will return to action on Monday when they take on Lake Erie and WV Wesleyan.
