Griffins Open Season with 11-1 Win over Bloomsburg

Seton Hill opened the 2016 season in Williamston, NC at Riverside High School against PSAC East foe Bloomsburg.  SHU scored ten times in the first four innings in route to an 11-1 win.

Seton Hill got on the scoreboard first in the top of the second inning.  Chris Miller led off the inning with a single and Zac Heide followed with another single.  Mark Collella reached base on an error to load the bases.  Tyler Sullivan then plated two runs on a single.  Taylor Schmidt added an RBI single to increase the Griffins lead to 3-0.  Sullivan scored on a wild pitch to give the Griffins a 4-0 advantage.  The Griffins added to their lead in the top of the third.  Sullivan drew a leadoff walk.  Schmidt then reached on a fielders choice.  Garret Vrbanic then singled in Colton Carney to increase the lead to 5-0.  Anthony Fanelli then drove in two runs with a single.  After a hit batter and a walk, Zach Heide cleared the fence in left center field to increase the lead to 10-0.

Bloomsburg finally got to starter Jordan Fuller in the seventh inning.  The Huskies had three straight hits to lead off the inning and scored one run to trim the lead to 10-1.  SHU got that run back in the top of the ninth when Matt Malacane lined a homer over the left center field fence.
