The Griffins hit the road to Columbus, OH to take on Ohio Dominican in their final tune up before PSAC Crossover action begins on Saturday afternoon. Seton Hill played close with the Panthers in the early part of the first half but as the game went on the Panthers were able to pull away for a 96-73 victory. SHU falls to 1-1 on the season.
SHU jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead on a three from
Trevor Lecuona and a basket from
Spencer Casson. Ohio Dominican battled back to tie the game at 7 before two free throws from Casson and a bucket from Lecuona extended the lead to 11-7 with 16:47 to play in the half. That would be the last lead the Griffins would have in the half as the Panthers were able to extend their lead to as many as 13 points with 6:52 to play in the half. Ohio Dominican led 43-33 with 3:30 to play in the half. SHU cut the lead to 45-40 on a
Milenko Predic basket with 51 seconds left in the half.
Brandon Alston hit a jumper right before the break to cut the lead to 48-42 at the halftime break.
Spencer Casson led the team at the half with 10 points.
Noah Davis added 9 points.
Ohio Domincan extended their lead to 62-52 five minutes into the second half. A Salsamendi bucket cut the lead to eight at 62-54. Ohio Dominican then went on a 14-6 run over the next five minutes to extend their lead to 76-60 at the under ten media timeout. Ohio Dominican continued to build their lead and extended it to twenty with eight minutes left in the half.
Spencer Casson led the Griffins with 18 points.
Fernando Salsamendi added 12 points.
Nathan Davis finished the game with 11 points.
The Griffins return to action this weekend with PSAC crossover action at Mansfield and Lock Haven on Saturday and Sunday.
