The Seton Hill men's basketball team kicked off its 2016-17 season with a road game at Salem International on Saturday afternoon. The Griffins trailed 51-50 at the half but outscored the Tigers by a 53-47 margin in the second half for a 103-98 victory.
Fernando Salsamendi led the Griffins with 19 points. He also added 8 rebounds and 3 assists.
Spencer Casson and
Nathan Davis each tossed in 16 as part of six Griffins scoring in double figures. Casson pulled down 6 rebounds while Davis added 5.
Trevor Lecuona nearly missed a double double with 14 points and 9 assists. He also had 4 steals.
Brandon Alston and
Tyler Bowling also both hit double figures with 10 points each.
Noah Davis just missed double figures with 9 points.
Both teams shot the ball really well from the field. SHU finished 58% from the floor and 73% from three point land while hitting 29 of 34 free throws. Salem shot 49% from the field.
The Griffins will return to action on Saturday when they start off PSAC crossover action on the road at Mansfield. The trip will continue on Sunday at Lock Haven.
