Late Goal Sinks Griffins at Ship

Seton Hill took on Shippensburg on the road in a PSAC contest on Wednesday evening.  SHU took a two game winning streak into the contest.  Both teams scored two first half goals but Shippensburg got the game winner with just over eleven minutes to play for a 3-2 Raider victory.  SHU falls to 4-5-2 overall and in PSAC play while Ship improves to 7-5 overall and 5-5 in PSAC play.

The Griffins got off to a fast start with a goal just 5:48 into the match.  Emily LoPresti hit Katie Kimmich with a long thru ball and Kimmich beat the keeper from about 8 yards out for a 1-0 Griffin lead.  Less than six minutes later Shippensburg tied the score at one on a goal from 25 yards out.  Just over three minutes later the Raiders took their first lead of the game at 2-1.  SHU tied the game in the 35th minute.  LoPresti took a pass from Melanie Renda and teed it up from just outside of the box and foudn the upper left hand corner of the net.  Shippensburg held a 10-7 advantage in shots in the half. 

The second half saw both teams continue to fire at the net from the onset.  Renda hit the crossbar fifteen minutes into the half.  Shippensburg scored the game winner off a free kick in the 80th minute on a header.  Emma Bearinger's shot in the 87th minute just missed the net high to the left. 

Jessica Neill recorded 5 saves in net.  LoPresti led with 5 shots (2 on goal).  Kimmich and Renda each had 3 shots.

Ship held a 20-16 advantage in shots.  They also held a 7-3 advantage in corners.

The Griffins return to action in a nonconference game on Tuesday at Alderson Broaddus.
