PHILIPPI, WV. - The Seton Hill University women's soccer team defeated Alderson Broaddus University, 2-0, in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon at the Multi Sport Performance complex on the campus of Alderson Broaddus in Philippi, WV.
The win boosts SHU's record to 5-5-2 on the year. Alderson Broaddus, members of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, falls to 4-6-1.
After a defensive first half,
Emma Porteous broke the 0-0 tie in the 69th minute when she scored an unassisted goal.
Katie Kimmich put the game out of reach in the 76th minute when she scored off of a
Melanie Renda pass to get to the final 2-0 score.
For the game, Seton Hill outshot the Battlers, 12-3 (5-1 on-goal). Nine of the SHU shots came in the second half of play while the defense held AB shotless for the final 45:00. The two teams were level on corner kicks, 3-3. SHU goalkeepers
Jessica Neill and
Elyza Pilatowski-Herzing split the two halfs in the net, with Neill coming away with one save. AB's Alexis McKeown had three saves in all 90:00 spent defending the net.
Seton Hill returns to PSAC play this weekend when they travel to East Stroudsburgh, PA to take on East Stroudsburgh University. That match is scheduled for a 12:00 PM start.Â
