EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The Seton Hill University women's soccer team gave #11 East Stroudsburg University all they could handle, but a late goal pushed the homestanding Warriors past the Griffins, 2-1.
The loss drops SHU to 5-6-2 overall and 4-6-2 in the PSAC. ESU improves to 12-2-1 overall and 12-1-1 in conference play.
Danielle Cary gave the home team a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute when she received Hannah Gombos' corner kick and hit a low shot past the SHU defense.
Emily LoPresti got the Griffins' on the board in the 53rd minute when she scored off of a Penalty Kick to even the game at 1-1. However, ESU's Sammi Ortiz scored a double-assisted goal with just under 15 minutes remaining in the game to give East Stroudsburg the win.
For the game, Seton Hill outshot the Warriors, 20-19 but the two teams were an even 11-11 in terms of shots on goal. ESU held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. Seton HIll goalkeeper
Jessica Neill had nine saves in all 90 minutes played. Harris had 10 saves for ESU.
Seton Hill returns to action on Wednesday, October 19th when they take on Indiana University of Pennsylvania at Dick's Sporting Goods Field. That game is scheduled to start at 3:00 PM.
