Seton Hill hosted Indiana (PA) on Wednesday afternoon looking to keep its playoff hopes alive with a win. The Griffins came out of the gates and dominated the first half in taking a 2-0 lead. The defense then made the lead stand up for a 2-1 PSAC win. SHU improved to 6-6-2 overall and 5-6-2 in PSAC play. IUP drops to 8-7-0 and 7-6 in PSAC action.
The Griffins had two shots in the first six minutes and finally got on the scoreboard in the ninth minute.
Katie Kimmich tried to send a cross into the box but it hit off a Crimson Hawk defender and deflected into the net for an own goal and a 1-0 Griffin lead. SHU continued to control play with three shots and three corner kicks over the next ten minutes.
Emily LoPresti had two shots on goal during the ten minute stretch. SHU added to their lead in the 22nd minute off another corner kick.
Amy Lynch's corner kick found the head of LoPresti who deposited the corner kick into the back of the net for a 2-0 Griffin lead. SHU held a 9-3 advantage in shots and a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks in the first half.
SHU settled into a more defensive look in the second half as they continued to smother the IUP attack. The Crimson Hawks finally got on the scoreboard in the 74th minute after a SHU foul in the box. IUP converted the penalty kick to cut the lead to 2-1. SHU did not allow another shot on goal the rest of the way to preserve the win.
Jessica Neill recorded 3 saves in the net for the win. LoPresti led the Griffins with 4 shots (3 on goal).
