GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Seton Hill University women's soccer team picked up a 3-1 win over Millersville University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Saturday at Dick's Sporting Goods Field.
With the win, Seton Hill improves to 7-6-2 overall and 6-6-2 in the PSAC. Millersville slips to 5-9-0 on the year and are 5-9-0 in PSAC play.
Katie Kimmich got the party started for the Griffins, scoring in just the 16th minute of the game. The freshman from Export, Pa. found herself on the good end of a two-on-one between herself,
Emma Bearinger, and the Millersville goalkeeper. The Marauders would tie the game just one minute later when Alexandrea Powell scored on a penalty kick to even the game at 1-1. However, Seton Hill would recapture the lead in the 39th minute when a kick from the SHU box by
Hope Creamer weaved through the defense to find a streaking
Emma Bearinger in Millersville territory. Bearinger beat the Marauder keeper and gave SHU the 2-1 lead going into halftime.
During a back-and-forth second half that saw both sides battle for traction in the rain,
Emily LoPresti gave SHU the insurance it needed when she scored off of a
Katie Kimmich assist in the 69th minute. Seton Hill would hold on for the 3-1 win.
For the game, Seton HIll narrowly outshot Millersville, 14-13 (8-5 on-goal). The Marauders held a 5-4 advantage when it came to corner kicks.Â
Seton Hill will visit Slippery Rock University on October 25th before finishing off the 2016 regular season against West Chester University on Saturday, October 29th. That game is set for 12:00 PM at Dick's Sporting Goods Field.
