The Griffin field hockey team made the short trip to Indiana to battle the Crimson Hawks under the lights at Miller Stadium on Tuesday evening. IUP took a 2-0 lead early in the second half but the Griffins battled back to make it 2-1 with a goal in the 53rd minute but could not find the equalizer in dropping a 2-1 decision in PSAC action. SHU is now 2-8 overall and 0-3 in the PSAC while IUP improves to 6-4 overall and 2-2 in PSAC action.
The game was scoreless until IUP got on the scoreboard with 9:39 left in the first half. IUP outshot the Griffins 4-3 in the first half and had a 9-7 advantage in penalty corners.
IUP increased the lead to 2-0 with a goal just 3:44 into the second half. With just under 18 minutes remaining in the contest the Griffins cut the Crimson Hawks lead in half on a goal from
Nicole Susi. The Griffins could not manage another shot in the game and dropped the 2-1 decision.
Jane Eberhart finished the game with 2 saves in cage. IUP outshot the Griffins 7-5 in the game and held a 15-8 advantage in penalty corners.
Seton Hill returns to action on Saturday afternoon at Bloomsburg.
