GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Seton Hill University men's soccer team ended the 2016 regular season with a 3-1 loss to West Chester University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Dick's Sporting Goods Field.
The loss brings SHU's final regular season record to 11-7 overall and 7-4 in the PSAC. West Chester improves 11-3-3 overall and 8-1-2 in PSAC play.
Prior to the game, both West Chester and Seton Hill had already clinched PSACÂ Tournament berths. With the win, West Chester secured the No. 2 seed in the tournament. Seton Hill's seed will be announced later this evening.
The Golden Rams struck first just 10 minutes into the match when Brett Glasco's shot from the left side of the goal sailed just out of the reach of the SHU goalkeeper.
Curtis Gallagher evened the match at one apiece in the 31st minute when his header off of a
Colin Watson entry pass found an empty left side of the net. However, Miguel Ross broke the 1-1 tie in the 70th minute, and Glasco tacked on another goal in the 82nd en route to the 3-1 win for West Chester.
For the game, Seton Hill outshot WCU, 16-12 overall (5-9 on-goal). Seton Hill held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks, and WCU was found offsides three times compared to just once for SHU.
Austin Iddon grabbed six saves while allowing all three goals in 90 minutes played guarding the net. James Wood had four saves in goal for West Chester.
