The match started out well for the Griffins at Indiana on Friday evening with a 25-13 win in the first set but IUP would win the final three sets for a 3-1 victory over the Griffins. With the loss, SHU drops to 15-7 overall and 7-3 in PSAC play. IUP improves to 15-6 overall and 6-4 in PSAC action.
Seton Hill jumped out to an early 9-3 lead in the first set. After two IUP points, SHU ran off five straight points behind kills from
Jenna Sassack and
Cassie Hausfeld, an ace from
Maggie Murray and a block from Sassack and
Rachel Satira. IUP would not get any closer in the set as SHU took a 1-0 lead with a 25-13 win. SHU hit .357 in that set compared to -.029 from IUP.
That set was a total opposite of the final three sets as SHU would hit negative in each of the final three sets and IUP hit above .100 in each of the final three sets. IUP tied the match at one with a 25-19 win. The Crimson Hawks took a 2-1 lead with a 25-18 win and closed out the match with a 25-17 win.
Leah Bisignani led SHU with 8 kills.
Rachel Satira finished with 5.
Maggie Murray,
Cassie Hausfeld and
Jillian Livorse each had 4 kills in the match. Murray added 22 assists and 3 aces.
Jenna Sassack was a factor at the net with 8 blocks. Satira added 5 blocks.
Mary Baich had a match high 35 digs.
SHU will continue play on the road at Clarion on Saturday afternoon.
