The Seton Hill field hockey team kicked off PSAC Sportsmanship Week on the Greensburg campus with a home matchup against Kutztown on Tuesday afternoon. Kutztown led 2-1 at the half and added a third goal in the second half for a 3-1 victory.
The Golden Bears got on the scoreboard 8:37 into the first half, taking a 1-0 lead. Just over four minutes later the Bears added a second goal to take a 2-0 lead. The Griffins cut the lead in half in the 20th minute.
Dominique Cappello sent a ball thru the circle and
Wynnsome Gadson got a stick on it and deposited it into the back of the cage to cut the Bears lead to 2-1. KU held the 2-1 lead at the halftime break. KU held a 9-3 advantage in shots and a 5-2 advantage in penalty corners in the first half.
About five minutes into the second half, Kutztown increased their lead to 3-1with a shot that went over the SHU keeper's head. Kutztown looked to make it 4-1 but
Jane Eberhardt made a save on a penalty stroke to keep the deficit at just two.
Both teams had just three shots and two penalty corners in the second half.
Jane Eberhardt finished with four saves.
The Griffins return to action on Saturday when they travel to Mansfield.
